Well, I guess it's time for an #introduction! I'm a professional software developer from Reunion Island.

I've been a #marketgardener for six years and I'm the creator of https://qrop.frama.io, a #FLOSS #cropplanning software written in #qt. I'm porting it to #Phoenix because #Elixir is such a wonderful language! (And more seriously, because a #SaaS will be a better fit.)

#GNUlinux user since 2005, #Emacs lover ever since, learning #Rust in my spare time, #climbing as much as possible.

So after a couple of days of snooping around and butting into conversations, I guess it's #introduction time 😁

I'm originally from Singapore, but moved to Naarm (Melbourne, Australia) in 2004.

I have been in the hospitality industry for 18 years.
The last 12 of which have been spent in the kitchen as a chef. I post about #food a lot 😏

I also have a background in #Anthropology, #SocialTheory and #HumanNutrition.

Am currently in the middle of a #PhD in #Education - researching community #foodpedagogies as well as food education in #PublicHealth.

I am passionate about #SocialJustice, #FoodSecurity, #Decolonisation and dismantling systems that perpetuate division and inequity.

I am a #dancer, #SciFi geek, a novice gardener and have a regular #yoga practice.

Open to meet anyone and everyone. Excited to be here and looking forward to many amazing conversations and friendships! 💜

Time for me to shamelessly do a re #introduction for the newer people joining masto!

Hello! I am a published SFF author, poet, musician/music student and sometime-composer with major impostor syndrome. I am also a biblioholic, a literary Gothic academic (PhD in Literature). My interests outside of these spheres include cooking, language learning, binge-watching my favourite (mostly SFF/Gothic) shows. On Mastodon I mostly engage with the #3GoodThings community when I am not posting #music recommendations (mostly #womencomposers #experimentalmusic #contemporarymusic #classicalmusic with some #indie)

My bibliography: https://mythopoetica.com/bibliography
My debut fantasy novel: https://mythopoetica.com/2024/09/01/places-to-purchase-watermyth-ebook/

Been on the fence about joining Mastodon for a while. Jumped off of it, finally. Hi :]

I'm a character artist, spent a lot of time drawing OCs but also made some Solarpunk stuff, including that one "we would call it Solarpunk" post.

Here's some illustrations I did for the Solarpunk Prompts podcast, with more to come

Digital illustration of a rooftop vegetable garden under a semi-transparent solar panel, lit by the morning sun. Behind it we see a vibrant residential tower, and yet further - a park still bathed in gentle shadows, as well as a train bridge.

Three people are in the foreground next to the raised garden beds. A grandmother is sitting on a stool, explaining something to the curious child who's crouching nearby. To the left, a girl, clearly in the middle of doing something, appears to have zoned out and is now looking into the distance, fiddling with her necklace.
A watering can is dripping on the thin stone-tiled path nearby.

A TV studio recording a cooking show, with a clearly distressed cook standing in front of a table full of vegetarian / vegan ingredients, their hands raised placatingly. The audience in front of them is clearly outraged, waving protest signs demanding meat.

Digital illustration of a vibrant cafeteria scene. We can see through the faraway window that the building is situated somewhere high up in the mountains, likely next to a research station. Visitors are going about their day in the background, and the walls are covered in art.

In the foreground, two people are having a conversation over a vegetarian meal. The person on the left is playfully leaning in, probably asking the other one a question. The second person is gesturing in frustration. To their right is a notebook covered in scribbles, indicating possible creative troubles.

Digital illustration. The scene is set on a spring morning.
A middle-aged woman is standing in the centre of the frame, holding a miner's helmet in one hand and in the other - a flyer, close to her chest.
Before her is a statue of two people, one of which is pulling the other out of a hole while holding onto a small wind turbine. A discarded pickaxe is lying on the ground.
The woman looks uncertain, but there's a hopeful glimmer in her eye.

In the background is a building the second floor of which looks drastically different from the first: it's much more colorful and imaginative. The text on the building reads "Community Center"

Hi! This is my #introduction. I'm a geologist turned software developer living in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿.

I used to tweet and blog about volcanoes 🌋, Iceland 🇮🇸, geospatial data 🗺️, and open source science software pythonlinux (http://all-geo.org/volcan01010/every-post-ever/) but I don't have so much time for that these days.

I'm hopeful that Mastodon will be like the glory days of sci-comm Twitter circa 2012.
