@jonny We've ( @catalystcoop ) been doing a bunch of *extra* energy system data archiving work with the Public Environmental Data Partners, putting stuff up on Zenodo, and I've always joked that we should publish torrents too but... maybe we literally should? Is there a community of research users? What would deploying data releases to torrents look like technically? Some of the data we're archiving now is bigger than Zenodo allows (>50GB).

I know it sounds obvious but donβt do your #organizing on Meta or Google properties. IMO the chances that they will begin to search even your DMs for incriminating content and snitch on you at some point is pretty high.
Use end-to-end encrypted services like Signal.
In fact, switch to Signal even if you *arenβt* organizing anyway. Why give them the pleasure of hosting your content?

In the end I don't know what to do about it.
I hope that with time people will keep ending up here as walled gardens fail. A few more people showed up with the migration from X. Eventually, threads and BlueSky will fall apart because that's market model for such places. And people will move here.
Can we at least pretend like we want them to join us? That's all I ask.
