@georgetakei I had a dream this am. I was on the porch, rural home, my neighbor, known for years was in the front yard working. All of the sudden an overwhelming number of agents swooped to arrest him. To the leader, I said, I don’t think he’s an immigrant. He said, we are finding that out. I spoke critically and he turned, asked me to kneel down while they search my home. Good thing I woke up. This is all so pathetic. Another dark cloud on American history that they will redact from books.

GOP Congresscritter Brandon Gill has never read the Constitution it's his job to preserve, protect, and defend. As James Surowiecki's question demonstrates, it's only possible to determine if a foreigner is in the US without permission via due process. American citizens don't need the govt's permission to live in their own country.
Note to Gill. Minor traffic violations are criminal offenses. Being in the United States without permission, however, is not. It's a civil offense.
