When I was a kid, our FLGS, Wargames West had a room in back with cork boards on the walls. People would play slomo strategy games by pinning the map and counters to the board. You could drop by and see if your opponent had moved and take a turn when you had time. It was great. I always played GEV or this one pocket box game about vikings(?). I remember seeing some folks playing Holy War the same way but up until now I always thought it was set in the Middle East. 😅
