🪷 Buddhistdoor Quote for Today: Tilopa (c. 988–c. 1069) 🪷

✨ Gazing intently into the empty sky, vision ceases; / Likewise, when mind gazes into mind itself, / The train of discursive and conceptual thought ends / And supreme enlightenment is gained. — Tilopa (c. 988–c. 1069) ✨

Buddhistdoor Quote for Today: Peacemaking requires selflessness. There is little we can do for peace as long as we think we are the only ones who know the way. Peacemaking requires wisdom. Peace is a path that is chosen consciously. It is not an aimless wandering, but a step-by-step journey. — Preah Maha Ghosananda (1913–2007)

Buddhistdoor Quote for Today: When the Buddha spoke about suffering, he meant that we have unsatisfactory experiences. Even the happiness we have does not last forever, and that situation is unsatisfactory. The causes of our problems lie not in the external nvironment
and those inhabiting it, but in our own mind. The disturbing attitudes and negative emotions, such as clinging attachment, anger, and ignorance are the real source of our unhappiness. — Ven. Thubten Chodron

Buddhistdoor Quote for Today: True freedom is to be free from desire by recognizing it. Then, from where does desire arise? The root of desire is karma. When your karma comes into contact with an external situation, a feeling arises, and based on that feeling, a desire arises. Each person has different karma, so each person has different desires. — Ven. Pomnyun Sunim

Hiti

हिति , in Nepāl Bhāṣā, is the word for a shared community water tap. Even in modern Newar cities, these ancient structures still pour out fresh mountain water piped through ancient underground filters and conduits. They are a place to wash, to talk, to drink, to meet the locals: a nourishing, refreshing social-ecological place.
