@georgetakei The only possible thing TrumPOS could be talking about here was when Venezuela nationalized the oil companies, but that was back in the 1970s - 1980s. Yes, USA oil conglomerates had pretty massive investments in VZ's infrastructure, but that's not the same thing as "our oil"

What Trump seems to have actually said is that they took our oil rights, which is different from taking our oil and not as crazy. Of course, he doesn't mention the corruption that led to U.S. businesses getting those oil rights. My guess is that Trump wants to treat Venezuela the way the restored French monarchy treated Haiti: he doesn't want to be outdone by another king, even one long dead.
