The requirement of a supermajority in the Senate to remove an impeached federal officer from office, for example, stems from a time, where democratic ideas where only mildly applied to limit regal powers. In its current form, the office of President has too much power, not enough checks.

I believe that going in person to our elected representatives office and telling them to impeach Trump might cause some Republicans to flip... Their main goal in life is to keep that job working as a representative... And if they get the feeling that being a MAGA moron is going to get them unemployed... It's very likely that they will flip...
