Heinleine wrote about a team landing on the Moon, who, after building a radio shack there, contemplate building some huge vacuum tube amplifiers in-situ too, with all the internals of the tubes laid out in the open; vacuum would be provided by nature for free, so there would be no need for rigid tube enclosures.
Some filtering out of Moon dust might be necessary though π
