There a boy cradles a gray tabby cat in his arms as he lays back against the larger ammonite with his eyes closed. His lowered leg rests on the curve of the second fossil. Notably in the autumnal setting, he wears only black shorts and a white t-shirt. Echoes of other ammonite fossils can be seen in stone above and behind. A trail of russet leaves over damp rock leads into the graying distance as thin trees stand skeletal against hazy skies.

I didn't want to just call this PRUDENCE 3, so I looked all over for a word that captured the idea of the painting and KAIROS is the only one that fit.

On the beach, a shallow ring of water forms around an ammonite fossil. Curled up and naked, a woman lies on her side atop the ridged surface of the spiral. Her eyes are closed as if she's asleep鈥r perhaps lost deep in contemplation. Her arms are a tangle, with one bent to sink fingers into her dark blonde hair. Beneath her, the other arm extends past the point of her knee to hold up the fanned leaf of a gingko tree against the smooth skin of her calf. Small shards crack off the ammonite as the water retreats over smooth sand. In the immediate foreground mossy rocks jut out of the sand. In the background, larger angled rock formations partially obscure the horizon but open enough to provide a view of the frothy surf rolling in.

A tree house sits on tall wooden pilings above a smooth sandy beach. High up, a woman rests her arms over the window sill as she looks out. The window is set in the roof with a haphazardly constructed, asymmetrical overhang. The roof is shingled on one side of the window while the boards beneath are weathered and exposed on the other. The siding of the structure resembles an old water tower, with long vertical boards restrained with thin metal bands long since rusted. The sky is a wash of yellow and gray. The light has a dusky quality as clouds obscure a sun that sits low in the sky. A path of pebbles meanders river-like from the foreground in a loose zigzag until it reaches a puddle of water at the base of the watchtower. The ruined remains of a ladder stick out of the sand near the pilings.

WINTER ENCHANTMENT (1997)

As we approach the winter solstice, the nights may be getting longer but the days are always full of wonder. That magic of possibilities is what I tried to capture in this painting. 1/3

A crystalized snowflake materializes at the tip as a troop of ice fairies dance with ballerina-like grace while adding lights around the tree. A clear patch of ice reflects the small but festive tree. Off to the side, an elf hides in another snow burdened tree holding up the artists MW sigil. The art was intended to fold into a pyramid shaped card so the perspective is a fishbowl-like view of the forest tapering to the full moon that shows through a break in the clouds.

Rough stone steps wind around the side of a hill defining the cliff's edge in their slow ascent. As the path turns sharply, the eroded ground beneath forms an overhang. The sky beyond is suffused with golden radiance layered with grey-blue clouds. The trees at the edge of the cliff, already in the transition to autumn, are lit by the warm glow of sunset creating a contrast of light and shadow up thick textured trunks. Out over the edge, hovering in the open air, a woman in a long dress holds her hands out as if presenting a clear spherical vessel containing a solitary flame. Bathed in the light of sunset, she stares off panel into the far distance while a pair of doves flies low, sweeping over the curving steps.
