First foray into scifi novels.
I bought it yesterday, now roughly 15% in, and so far I'm liking it.
The in-world terms can be intuitively understood, and there's also a glossary at the back of the book. But I also like the challenge of trying to comprehend the jargon by context.
To add, I'm admittedly not much of a fiction reader. I read two fiction last year, out of a total of 30 books I've finished.
Yes, this is my first scifi novel. And I've been consistently reading books since 2017. Reading Anathem is a good challenge for me.
हिति , in Nepāl Bhāṣā, is the word for a shared community water tap. Even in modern Newar cities, these ancient structures still pour out fresh mountain water piped through ancient underground filters and conduits. They are a place to wash, to talk, to drink, to meet the locals: a nourishing, refreshing social-ecological place.
