@nyrath I’m interested in how the grid appears a bit wonky in the on-screen map view. I don’t mean the oddities in north and south when you zoom out to a world-level view, I mean the actually bent lines on the 2nd level pentagons.

@nyrath I wonder if they are actually “straight” (i.e. follow great circle lines) but just projected that way on this map. Unfortunately i lack the time to dive into this more than the 10 minutes i just spent looking at the docs. But it’s fascinating; thank you for the link!

@nyrath @dendroica @nirro I used them because they are traditional, there is some discussion about how to use them for a tide locked world. I found the problem is that the terminator winds up in the upper triangles if the insolation point is at the top. It can be difficult for players to use the map. Some best rotated, or make a jump map. Like I did with Fermi, in the Kappa Ceti system:
