My Crataegus pinnafitida tree ( 山楂 ) has finally yielded a proper crop of haws. Does anyone happen to know how to make the wonderful candied haws that people eat in East Asia around this time of year?

Found the answer. Apparently there was quite a fad for Bing Tanghulu a while back and there are recipes around, such as thehongkongcookery.com/2017/...

Bing Tanghulu Candied Hawthorn Stick 冰糖葫蘆

Gosh darn-namit...I'm super excited about these!  For up to a thousand dusty long years, on any street corner in China...

Hiti

हिति , in Nepāl Bhāṣā, is the word for a shared community water tap. Even in modern Newar cities, these ancient structures still pour out fresh mountain water piped through ancient underground filters and conduits. They are a place to wash, to talk, to drink, to meet the locals: a nourishing, refreshing social-ecological place.
