Divide and conquer. The billionaires have realized that if they can get us to all fight each other then they win. What is the easiest way to get us to fight one another. Make us think that someone else is simply getting something for free while we work so hard. But they miss the point that the system is rigged against all of us. And if we get together and fight the injustice instead of fighting one another, then they can not control us like that...
Sadly in a lot of states being on unemployment pays too much to qualify for benefits. That's awful.

@georgetakei In fairness, I think this shutdown and the impacts it is having on so many people across the country is incredibly revealing - about how many people in the country are struggling. How many have been struggling for years - decades.
It reveals how fundamentally broken the US capitalist system is. 40 million people are being failed by the country.
While there are billionaires, and one special example who wants an extra trillion for being useless.

@georgetakei A lot of veterans, too. The vast majority of those who benefit from food stamps are children. But, of course, these are the same folks who don't want kids to get a school lunch.
@georgetakei I do not believe for an instant that they want any of us to mention that a significant number of the millions of people on food stamps includes a significant number of veterans and military dependents. But then, screwing the military doesn't bother them. They've been doing it for decades.

A majority of Americans are never too far from needing these benefits themselves.
