@georgetakei there seems to be a lack of understanding for parenthood, costs & why other countries offer a 1time payment without raising disgust. It is not easy - anywhere in the world - to have children. So I will only comment on point 3: those countries have programs in place to support families before AND AFTER the children are born. Extra days off to tend to a sick kid, tax benefits, right to day care, school, extra meal/clothes/book money if needed... all that & more is basis.
