@georgetakei

Sadly, "I never used to hear of this so all the experts in the past two centuries must be wrong" is pretty much exactly what I expect to hear from any Trump appointee. Or from Trump himself for that matter.

What happened is this: the internet. We started sharing information that used to be hard to come by. Things only a scattered few people ever heard of before became common knowledge.

The world didn't change; We just started noticing it.

@georgetakei I grew up with Tourette's syndrome back in the 70's (though not diagnosed until the 80's). It's true that there was much less awareness of these conditions in the past, but they certainly existed. I was never diagnosed with ADHD but I'm sure that if I were growing up now I would be and it would only be to my benefit.

It's hard to comprehend that someone with so much power could be so uncurious to not do the most basic research into why there are more diagnoses of these conditions.

@georgetakei God, that twat. He didn’t hear about it because we used to throw affected people into sanitariums and forget about them. He didn’t hear about it because people didn’t want to talk about their “weird” relatives in the “nut house”. He didn’t hear about it because his family was rich and he didn’t have to.
