Unfortunately, the other part that motivated the rebellion against the United Kingdom was that the abolition of slavery started to gain traction from 1772, and pressure to end it was starting to mount in many colonies (Canada abolished it first). The other reason was that the american landed gentry didn't want to pay taxes...
So, while male landlords wanted to keep slaves and not pay taxes. The rest was an embellishment...
