Yesterday, I fondly remembered my dear friend Leonard Nimoy, who would have turned 94. His legacy lives on in our hearts. Just days ago, Bill Shatner celebrated his 94th birthday — wishing him continued health and happiness. Live long and prosper, my friends.

The world of Gene Roddenberry, which you and the original crew of the NCC-1701 formed many of the bases of my belief structure. That we are each unique, but share more similarities than not, even when scattered amongst the stars.

Thank you all for helping to show us what a future free of bigotry could look like.

(and, having been fortunate enough to meet you with my kids a few years back showed me how genuine you were then, and now, waiting for us all).

Thank you, George! On the evenings your show aired, it was my Mom's 'card night' with the ladies. Star Trek became THE show I watched with my Dad and we always had pancakes for dinner 😂

I'd lave loved to have met you at some 'Con'... but paying $200 just to shake your hand (and knowing that your agent, PA, and the venue took so much that you barely got $20 ) annoyed me.

I'd have rather taken you to dinner after to a nice place (not some buffet) paid $200 advance, and asked the waiter to tell us when it was used up. Then I'd pay more until you had a happy smile on your face... and have an Uber gently help you back to your room.

It took me a long time to realize that when George Takei got on Mastodon he joined The Federation.

@georgetakei An honor to serve with you and this amazing crew on starship earth! In some weirdly inexplicable way this humble TV show changed and inspired countless lives all over the planet.
Just hearing the first few notes of the Star Trek anthem gives me chills and goose bumps - and sometimes tears in my eyes, when the world outside seems to slide rather backwards than forward.
Thank you! For the hope of and glimpse into a better future! A vision dearly needed, especially these days!

@georgetakei One nice thing about following you (George) on Mastodon is that you're no longer typecast as Sulu in my mind. But yeah, the original Star Trek crew still rules, and that show inspired many, and made the world a better place. 🖖

@georgetakei I was a child when Star Trek originally aired but, shamefully admitting it, I never watched the series until until in my forties. You guys were a strange bunch of people, but even that part was practically groundbreaking: it was not a "lone hero" environment but an encouragement of group effort.

A 𑐴𑐶𑐟𑐶 (hiti) is an ancient Newah urban water feature: a stepped, sunken courtyard with waterspouts and a central pool. These are fed through a remarkable network of pipes, reservoirs, and irrigation systems drawing water from mountain springs dozens of kilometres away. Every day, hundreds of people from the neighbourhood come to draw water, bathe, and exchange news. They are a unique and precious feature of Newa urban architecture through which neighbourhoods are created.
